Rob VonGlas

Rob grew up in West Berkshire and moved to Sussex in 2011 where he studied illustration at the University of Brighton.

As a child Rob struggled to make meaningful relationships with his piers but found solace when others would interact with images he had made. This vicarious connection has been a driving factor through most of Rob’s career, but has become the explicit focus of his most recent practice.

Seeking to reproduce the energy of his quick sketchbook studies, Rob uses spray paint to create portraits on a relatively small surface. The restrictions of the medium at such a scale prevents Rob from getting lost in the minutiae, allowing him the freedom to interpret the subject in a more expressive manner.

Beyond his personal practice, Rob has completed commissions for a number of corporate and private clients nation wide.
